Our client is the construction and development arm of an international investment consortium.

This highly dynamic group have undertaken an ambitious and truly breath-taking development project – bringing back to life an iconic Grade II listed building and surrounding area and re-inventing it as one of the most exciting and innovative mixed use neighbourhoods in the world – a place for locals, tourists and residents to enjoy a unique blend of restaurants, shops, parks and cultural spaces.

Retail will naturally play a central role in this amazing new destination – there are exciting plans to develop a curated mix of restaurants, retail stores and leisure offerings which will appeal to residents, tourists and the wider local community. This is a multi-phase opening programme, with Phase One already up and trading, with a strong pipeline of new deals and tenant brands in play.

The organisation now seeks to hire a talented Retail Property Director to spearhead all current and planned future retail activity.

They are ideally looking for a talented leader with a wide range of cross-functional experience, including shopping centre operations, strategic marketing, development, leasing and asset management. The intention is to create a very “experiential” destination, and there will also be longer term scope to develop additional revenue streams, e.g., integrated digital services, guest services /concierge, commercialisation, etc in the medium-to-long term.

This crucial role requires a good knowledge and understanding of both the Fashion as well as F&B brand sectors, and exposure to Leisure & Entertainment will also be very useful in this role – the destination will also feature a number of innovative new Leisure attractions which will be at the leading edge of innovation.

You will play a hands-on role in on-boarding all new retail tenants, supervising and delivering pre-opening assistance and thereafter ongoing assert management of all retail trading activity.

This role demands a collegiate and collaborative “can-do” style – but also the ability to be firm and hold the line with 3rd party contractors and partners. You will need to have the commercial savvy to be able interpret Service Charge issues and continually re-appraise situations and recommend changes and improvements within a fast changing and evolving destination.
